The Radicalist
I have found
the secret to
loving more
than people do.
Because He tore
through time and space
to prove to me
that love means grace.
I barely knew then
that loving takes
more than me to
love for its own sake.
Now I see
that love is beyond
the human heart
and it takes more than
the heart and soul
to understand.
This love is fierce
so bold, so strong
that the King would trade
His rightful throne
to come to me
and love me first.

The fault, dear Marvin, is not in our stars...
There is something in the stars that I can't resist.
Gazing at these cosmic flares and watching them flicker in the dark of night is something I automatically do every time I need an assurance that all will turn out alright. There is something being stirred deep within the recesses of the soul when I turn my head towards the heavens and just contemplate and try to take in the mysteries written on the face of the night sky. And since they were there, fixated in the grand palette that is the universe, suspended in time and space on which pain and suffering and worries do not matter, I know I am here and why I am here. They affirm my very existence.
And sometimes, when you let the stars take you into a profound stillness you'll realized, that just like their light reaching you from millions of miles away to exactly where you are, that love is able to find you. It has found you.
Tonight, I'll gaze upon the night sky again. And allow the stars to take me in.

“Do you remember still the falling stars
that like swift horses through the heavens raced
and suddenly leaped across the hurdles
of our wishes -- do you recall? And we
did make so many! For there were countless numbers
of stars: each time we looked above we were
astounded by the swiftness of their daring play,
while in our hearts we felt safe and secure
watching these brilliant bodies disintegrate,
knowing somehow we had survived their fall.”

Shall we?
our life story together
but I'm so afraid not when to start
but where to begin?
Would you like to write it with me, too?
or would you rather go your way?
Would you create it with me
a true and lasting love story?
and read it the rest of our lives
all for the glory of His Majesty.
Shall we begin now?

Drifter
He's waiting for forever in the battlefront
while trying to undo the puzzles
that rampage before his bleary eyes
whose vision is blurred by liquid salt
and muffled anguish that tries to break loose.
He watches the clock tick and tock
and measure his existence suspended in space
his thoughts wander into elsewhere
running from grim images from the past and back
that haunt him like mad with eyes ablaze.
But he unsheathes the sword of moral indignation
and finds in the abyss of his own soul
the infinite light basking in all its glory
as he charge relentlessly like a roaring lion
and ready to fight all to his King.

Heartbreaking Mr. Rilke
Yes, it's no other than the mystical Rainer Maria Rilke quoted in the picture above.
If there is one poet and a writer that I can better relate to (of course I didn't say that my writings relate with his), it is Mr. Rilke. It is just so heartbreakingly wonderful how he beautifully create his words and piece them together in such a lyrical way that I couldn't get enough of them. They're like music to the ears, and allowing your heart to listen. His divine sentences full of visuals never fail to tug into my soul with ferocity so intense I couldn't help but look within. It's as if his syntax is equilibrium itself that speaks intimately to my being, engulfing me with both fullness and longing, order and chaos.
And man, yes, his prose! His delicious and magical prose that in its simplicity and clarity captivates the world and beyond.Words like his testify to the power of the written language in containing the universe in just few sentences. Well, I like Mr. Rilke not only for those reasons, but I like him so much more because of his romanticist notion of finding yourself in a journey within the deep avenues of the human spirit. I like him because he makes solitude and writing a grand opportunity to reunite with everything that is meaningful in this life.
He said thus: "Go into yourself. Find out the reason that commands you to write; see whether it has spread its roots into the very depths of your heart; confess to yourself whether you would have to die if you were forbidden to write."
These past few month have been really significant for me in my personal search for the things that matter most. The search isn't over yet, but the road to it is narrowing down and I believe that I'm heading towards the right direction. It is up to me to continue or to take the detour again. But I know better now.
And as Mr. Rilke said, it's now time to act with beauty and courage.

Star-crossed Lovers
I still look at the stars
just to remind myself that once upon a time,
there had been you and me
there had been you and me
beneath the glittering sky,
you and me--us making a rhyme.
And because the stars were there,
you and me--us making a rhyme.
And because the stars were there,
I knew it was real,
But tomorrow their flickering lights
But tomorrow their flickering lights
will soon fade,
And just like them--the stars--
And just like them--the stars--
you and me and "us" are ephemeral.
4G: Stardance
(This piece of poetry is dedicated to my once-stargazing buddy, who have taught me to contemplate the grand mysteries hidden behind the stars. Wherever you are, I remember :)
of dark clouds hovering in the sky
stars sparkling in the great distance
millions of miles away
while we're here sitting side by side like star-crossed lovers
bound to dominate the night time panorama
but it's the sparkle in your beaming eyes that illuminates
the dark shadows of existence
and if the moon has light because of the sun
then I have you as source of enlightened reason
we're here in this cosmic drama called life and reality
our paths have crossed like the moon eclipsing the sun
was it randomly or was it destiny?
but tonight we're one celebrating life's greatest mystery
the night will end, the stars will lose their sparkle in the glaring reality
the clouds will be swept away by the wind to clear the sky and paint a new scene
as I took your hands and lead them into my chest
to hear my heartbeat, a melody that's playing for you
you hold my hands and we're carried by the rhythm of endless joy
tonight it was You and Me and we're one with the skyline
come hold my hands and step with me to conquer the universe
tonight when the moon and the stars are grand
I hold you near to my heart as we dance with the stars.
come hold my hands and step with me to conquer the universe
tonight when the moon and the stars are grand
I hold you near to my heart as we dance with the stars.

Dancing Crystals
(Throwback. Poem dated June 2006. And all because it's raining the whole day today and I'm stuck in the house. Cheers!)
I open my hands
trembling on every beat
getting numb on every swing
of the cold and bewildering
dancing crystals
that were sent from the heavens
to wash away the dirt
and brokenness and hurt
from this abandoned soul...
I stand still
my feet firm on the ground
felt the stern soil
becomes soft and muddy
I struggled to face
the darkened skies
billowing clouds above...
My eyes feel the pain
yet fell on a trance
deep and profound
that I can't resist...
I close my eyes
internalized the beat
and I let my tired heart
succumb to the rhythm
and dance in the rain...
I open my hands
trembling on every beat
getting numb on every swing
of the cold and bewildering
dancing crystals
that were sent from the heavens
to wash away the dirt
and brokenness and hurt
from this abandoned soul...
I stand still
my feet firm on the ground
felt the stern soil
becomes soft and muddy
I struggled to face
the darkened skies
billowing clouds above...
My eyes feel the pain
yet fell on a trance
deep and profound
that I can't resist...
I close my eyes
internalized the beat
and I let my tired heart
succumb to the rhythm
and dance in the rain...

Twilight Song
Worlds crept
in
With its
colors and shades
Past beyond
the abysmal
day that is
bludgeoned with
life’s
greatest mystery…
as the sun
agonized over
the last
streams of light
it hides
behind the hills
and
mountains cover,
its pale
shade just over the horizon
unperturbed
yet wishing
that though
there was an appointed time
in this
cycle called life
it would see
through yet another day and
that in some
part of this vast universe
its lights
would eternally shine
unbothered
by horizons or cloud covers…
and when
darkness shroud the skies
hope shall
never falter or strength fail
for just
beyond the darkness of the night
the light
will just be waiting
and another
tomorrow shall begin…
*As far as I can remember, this is the last poem I wrote since I shifted to technical writing due to the required paper load in the academe which made me adapt to its demands and style. I almost forgotten the creative genre as a result. When I became a student journalist, I really rooted for the literary editorship. It never happened. I became the editor-in-chief instead. Very fair exchange. Five years later and now in the process of reclaiming old passion and dreams, I intend to go back to the way it should be for me. And I hope IT IS now:)
